It’s decision day at the Mallorca Championships presented by ecotrans Group, with Friday’s action set to determine the two finalists of the tournament’s fifth edition. The pristine grass courts of the Mallorca Country Club will host two high-caliber semifinals featuring both established names and rising talents, in front of an eager crowd: with only a handful of tickets remaining, a near sell-out is anticipated on Centre Court.

Play will get underway not before 3:30 p.m. with the clash between Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime (World No. 27) and the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor (World No. 34), two players with strong grass-court credentials. Their only previous tour-level meeting came in the round of 16 at ’s-Hertogenbosch 2022, where Auger-Aliassime edged through in two tight tiebreaks. The No. 2 seed in Mallorca, the Canadian is bidding to reach his fourth final of the season (after Adelaide, Montpellier and Dubai) and third of his career on grass. Griekspoor, meanwhile, is aiming to reach his second grass-court final and become the fifth Dutchman in the Open Era to reach multiple tour-level finals on the surface.

In the second semifinal, not before 6:00 p.m., American rising star Alex Michelsen (20 years old, World No. 33) looks to continue his impressive run in Mallorca as he faces French left-hander Corentin Moutet (World No. 83). Although this is their first meeting at tour level, Moutet did defeat Michelsen earlier this year in qualifying at the Monte Carlo Masters. Michelsen, who is still chasing his maiden ATP Tour title, already owns two grass-court final appearances (Newport 2023 and 2024) and could become only the fifth player under the age of 21 in the Open Era to reach three grass-court finals. Moutet, a former Doha finalist in 2020, seeks a long-awaited return to a championship match and arrives in top form after ousting Learner Tien and home favorite Roberto Bautista Agut in previous rounds.

MCTEEN finals bring the future of tennis to Centre Court

This action-packed Friday also shines a spotlight on the sport’s rising generation with the finals of the MCTEEN, the youth competition of the Mallorca Championships presented by ecotrans Group featuring U13 and U15 categories for both boys and girls. After progressing through clay-court qualifiers held at the Mallorca Country Club and hard-court rounds at the Rafa Nadal Academy, the finalists will now experience the thrill of competing on the same grass where the ATP Tour stars battle for glory.

The MCTEEN provides a unique platform for young talent, combining elite-level competition with the inspiration of a professional tournament setting.

Legends and personalities come together for the Mallorca ProAm

The day began with the ever-popular ProAm, a staple of the tournament’s social calendar, which once again brought together prominent figures from the tennis world and beyond in a relaxed and festive atmosphere. Robert Bider took top honors in the competition, with Joan Suasi, director of the Rafa Nadal Open by Movistar, finishing runner-up.

Among the notable participants were Toni Nadal, Maribel Nadal, former World No. 2 Tommy Haas, and Russian professional Pavel Lagutin. Prior to play, coaches from the Rafa Nadal Academy led a warm-up session on the practice courts, offering technical guidance and support to all competitors.

Winners were awarded an exclusive piece created by Swedish artist Clas Håkansson, who also designed the tournament’s official trophy: a personalized lithograph of the Mallorca Championships tournament poster, featuring a Lanson Champagne bottle, a strawberry and a tennis ball — a refined and artistic tribute to the spirit of the grass-court season.
