e|motion Sports España presented at FITUR in Madrid its two flagship international tennis events in Mallorca: the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships (ATP 250), taking place 20–27 June 2026, and the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women’s Championships (WTA 125), returning 10–18 October 2026. The presentation was led by Pilar Carbonell, Managing Director of e|motion Sports España, before public officials, media and visitors to the trade fair.
Carbonell highlighted the project’s guiding principle of continuous improvement and excellence: “It’s not about growth for growth’s sake. It’s about maintaining an outstanding offering and improving the spectator experience year after year.”
Both events are staged at Mallorca Country Club (Santa Ponça, Calvià), a standout venue on the international circuit and the only club in Southern Europe offering all three tennis surfaces (grass, clay and hard court). This means the ATP tournament is played on grass, while the WTA event is contested on clay, strengthening the distinct identity of each competition. Carbonell also underlined the tournaments’ premium off-court experience, attracting international fans, VIP guests and local spectators alike. She added that “these tournaments deliver international exposure of huge value for Mallorca and are shown in 165 countries worldwide.”
First ATP names confirmed: Tiafoe and Hanfmann
Two players have already been confirmed for the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships 2026: American Frances Tiafoe, who will make his debut in Mallorca, and Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann, who returns after enjoying one of the standout weeks of his career on the island in 2023, reaching the semi-finals and recording high-profile wins over Stefanos Tsitsipas and Feliciano López.
Family Day and MC Teen: focus on families and grassroots tennis
Following last year’s success, the tournament will once again host a Family Day on Sunday 21 June, coinciding with the first weekend of the school holidays in Mallorca. The day will feature free entry for children and family-focused activities, including a mascot meet-up hosted by tournament mascot Champi, alongside local sports clubs and partner organisations on the island.
In the same spirit, e|motion Sports confirmed the expansion of its youth tournament MC Teen, whose final is played during Mallorca Championships week. In 2026, MC Teen will run for two additional days and will be staged across more venues around the Balearic Islands, strengthening support for grassroots sport and increasing visibility for local clubs.
Closing the presentation, Carbonell thanked the public institutions and sponsors: “Our thanks go to the Govern de les Illes Balears, the Foundation for Responsible Tourism of the Consell de Mallorca, and the Ajuntament de Calvià for their long-standing support. And, of course, to our main sponsor, Vanda Pharmaceuticals, and all our partners who make this possible. With your support, we can say with pride and conviction: in June, Mallorca is tennis — and since last year, in October too.”
