The 2025 edition of the Mallorca Championships presented by ecotrans Group got underway today with the first round of qualifying matches. Eight encounters marked the start of the competition at the Mallorca Country Club, featuring a high level of play, tightly contested battles, and the demands of natural grass.

One of the day’s standout performances came from Nishesh Basavareddy, who pulled off a major upset by defeating fifth seed Botic van de Zandschulp 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-5 after more than three and a half hours of intense play. It was an impressive debut for the trio of Americans Aleksandar Kovacevic, Ethan Quinn, and Brandon Holt, who all advanced to the final qualifying round. Also securing spots were Czech Vit Kopriva, Argentine Mariano Navone, Sweden’s Elias Ymer, and veteran Australian Bernard Tomic.
